The casual music listener could be excused for liking this song by Robyn.
It’s seemingly tragic undertone with the infectiously high powered chorus gives it that appeasing ‘catchyness’.
This song oozes popness but I can’t help but feel it was perhaps meant to be a floor-filling dance anthem,. given what the Sweedish tend to float our way… but.. unfortunatly in that aim it fails. The lyricism is far too dark and the song reminds me more of a up-beat techno inspired Avril Lavigne or Jo Jo tune. A tad emo, a tad depressing… and very very much something I wouldn’t openly admit to liking.
Regardless check the video
It’s a good thing, tears never show in the pouring rain
As if a good thing ever could make up for all the pain
There’ll be no last chance to promise to never mess it up again
Just a sweet pain of watching your back as you walk
As I’m watching you walk away
And now you’re gone it’s like an echo in my head
And I remember every word you said
It’s a cold thing you never know all the ways I tried
It’s a hard thing faking a smile when I feel like I’m falling apart inside
And now you’re gone it’s like an echo in my head
And I remember every word you said
And you never were, and you never will be mine
No, you never were, and you never will be mine
For the first time, there’s no mercy in your eyes
And the cold wind is hitting my face and you’re gone
And you’re walking away
And I’m helpless sometimes
Wishing’s just no good
Cause you don’t see me like I wish you would
Cause you never were, and you never will be mine
No, you never were, and you never will be mine
There’s a moment to seize everytime that we meet
But you have always keep passing me by
But you never were, and you never will be mine
(I saw you at the station, you had your arm around
Whats her name? She had on that scarf I gave you
you got down to tie her laces)
Cause you never were, and you never will be mine
(You looked happy and that’s great)
No, you never were, and you never will be mine
(I just miss you, that’s all)
Cause you never were, and you never will be mine
No, you never were, and you never will be mine
There’s a moment to seize everytime that we meet
But you have always keep passing me by
No, you never were, and you never will be mine
Cause you never were, and you never will be mine
No, you never were, and you never will be mine
There’s a moment to seize everytime that we meet
But you have always keep passing me by
No, you never were, and you never will be mine

You may know this song a Phil Collins classic - “In The Air Tonight” this song is Iconic especially when paired up with the drumming Gorilla creating one of the most influential ad campaigns Cadburys Chocolate have had. The ad has pushed Phil Collin’s original “In The Air Tonight” back into the Top 20 of the UK Charts. Phil Collins debut single has always had great influence. Assited by the many Urban Myths surrounding it. One of many being that the songs content was based on a drowning of Phil’s friends, In which Phil was too intoxicated or distant to assist. But a third-party was able, but unwilling. Years later On the Premiere of this song, Phil invites the said third-party (after tracking them down through a private investigator) and places them in the third-row - shinning the spot-light on them and exposing them.
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
Ive been waiting for this moment, all my life, oh lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord, oh lord
Well, if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
Ive seen your face before my friend
But I dont know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off the grin, I know where youve been
Its all been a pack of lies
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
Ive been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh lord
I can feel it in the air tonight, oh lord, oh lord
And Ive been waiting for this moment all my life, oh lord, oh lord
Well I remember, I remember dont worry
How could I ever forget, its the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, no you dont fool me
The hurt doesnt show; but the pain still grows
Its no stranger to you or me
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord…
Truth is, It was based on his first divorce but the lyricism being as vague as it is, it could quite possibly hold true to the initial theory and many like it that circulate. Either way a very powerful song and I’d feel incomplete having a music blog that didn’t have a Phil Collins post, somewhere!
I’m not too sure what to say abou t Newtown Faulkner and Built By Robots what should be a by-the-fire acoustic album was turned into Jack-Johnson with a over-enthusastic percussionist.
I think my first gripe with the album is the fact it was released in the fourth-quarter whilst its a time that the likes of hip-hop and RnB lose favour and theres plenty of time in the charts before the Christmas rush. This album was full of songs which had the potential to become Summer Anthems and it oozed “Midnight Fires on the beach”.
Also Newton must be over-whemled and slightly bemused with the Jack Johnson’s comparassions as a great Jack Johnson fan myself I’m amazed at the comparassion seeing so much contrast. Newton Faulkners off-beat riffs and laid back music does offer music appesable to the surf-crowd but fitting in a Genre dosen’t make you anything like another Artist within that scope. Other than you both fit within the same Genre.
The Album as a wholes a good Album, easy to pick up and enjoy.
“Dream Catch Me”
Every time I close my eyes… it’s you
And I know now who I am
Yeah yeah yeah
And I know now
There’s a place I go when I’m alone
Do anything I want, be anyone I wanna be
But it is us I see
And I cannot believe I’m falling
That’s where I’m going, where are you going
Hold it close, won’t let this go
Dream catch me yeah
Dream catch me when I fall
Or else I won’t come back at all
You do so much
But you don’t know… it’s true
And I know now who I am
Yeah yeah yeah
And I know now
There’s a place I go when I’m alone
Do anything I want, be anyone I wanna be
But it is us I see
And I cannot believe I’m falling
That’s where I’m going, where are you going
Hold it close, won’t let this go
Dream catch me yeah
Dream catch me when I fall
Or else I won’t come back at all
See you as a mountain
a fountain of God
See you as a descant soul
in the setting sun
you as a sound just as silent as none
I’m yours
There’s a place I go when I’m alone
Do anything I want, be anyone I wanna be
But it is us I see
And I cannot believe I’m falling
There’s a place I go when I’m alone
Do anything I want, be anyone I wanna be
But it is us I see
And I cannot believe I’m falling
That’s where I’m going, where are you going
Hold it close, won’t let this go
Dream catch me, yeah
Dream catch me when I fall
Or else I won’t come back at all
Halloween the only time of year, Batman, Superman, The Witch, Mr Bones and Optimus Prime unite on there dedicated quest to gather enough sugar-based foods to allow them to throw up there guts in sync.
Now - The majority of the neighbourhood will quite happly hand over all sorts of candy to these little rapscallians dressed up in there mother-made costumes. But think for a moment. Is a night of Trick-or-Treating complete for any kid, if they don’t have the tale to tell of the Grumpy old man at number 42 who was a total ass? I think not. So on we go.
When Trick-or-Treaters come to your door - Open the door in full costume and shout Trick-or-Treat. (This will either confuse them or have them convinced your crazy. Either way, They won’t come back. This also doubles up as your Entertainment for the evening.)
Insist that each Trick-or-Treater does 10/20/100 Push-ups before you’ll give them the sweets. (Now if they do it and you don’t give them the sweets. They’re really not going to come back next year)
Shock your Trick-or-Treaters with this great Instructable. (Though teary eyed seven year olds In the arms of there angry fathers, could discourage you from opening the door)
For less tact-and-fun simply join the “Sorry No Trick or Treaters” campagian. I’m sure there’s one in your area. After all grumpy people are a common species.
Take a gander over at Bad-Candy with some great reviews on the worst-candy. You’re sure to find something a little more powerfull than the tried and tested soap-sweets. They’ll never come back for more.

A teen comedy at its finest, bringing immaginative, sarcastic and in your face humor Superbad denys even the grumpiest people the ability to refrain from laughing.
Starring Jonah Hill (Seth), Michael Cera (Evan) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Fogel) as a dynamic trio of school outcasts on a before-its-too-late pre-graduation race to shake that Virginity. The Film deals with a number of themes which it does with great humor and flair leaving the auidence in stiches with plenty of little chucks in unison abound throughout the film.
Everyone can relate to this film, Male or Female as long as they’ve passed through the trials and tribulations of teenage years. A great film with laughs non-stop, A must see.
Now, It has to be said Superbad is Supergood. Superbad is one of the best Teen Comedys in years, smashing its compeitiers with its Super Horny teen-perspective subduded by the Melancholy view that perhaps it was never meant to happen

Set Fire to The Third Bar is a poetic masterpiece, found on Snow Patrols “Open Eyes” album of 2006.(Which you can buy at Amazon) Depicting the emotions and feelings of being in a long-distance relationship consumed with love. Snow Patrols innocent lyricism and simple music forming what can only be described as glum rock. Invokes a sense of guilt and sorrow in the listener whilst also ironically consoling them.
I think this is what caused Snow patrols great success with this masterfully written song and more so, Album.
I find the map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms, and state lines
The distance from ‘A’ to where you’d ‘B’
It’s only finger-lengths that I see
I touch the place where I’d find your face
My finger in creases of distant dark placesI hang my coat up in the first bar
There is no peace that I’ve found so far
The laughter penetrates my silence
As drunken men find flaws in scienceTheir words mostly noises
Ghosts with just voices
Your words in my memory
Are like music to meI’m miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms
After I have travelled so far
We’d set the fire to the third bar
We’d share each other like an island
Until exhausted, close our eyelids
And dreaming, pick up from
The last place we left off
Your soft skin is weeping
A joy you can’t keep in
I’m miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms
I’m miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
and I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms
